Setting up a free account

You don't need a Digify account to access files sent with Document Security, but you need one to access a data room.

File recipients and data room guests don't need to be paid Digify users to view files sent to them. They can simply create a free account (also known as a free viewer account).

I sent a file to my recipient using Document Security. Are they required to set up a free account to access the file?

No, your recipient isn't required to set up a free account to access the file.

However, if you've set the file's Access to "Only people I specify", "Only people from domains I specify" or "Anyone with the link (email verification)", the recipient will need to verify their identity using a six-digit verification code that will be sent separately to their email address.

Once they've verified their identity, they can continue on to set up a free account if they wish.

I sent someone a link to a file in my data room. Are they required to set up a free account to access the file?

If this person isn't already a guest for the data room and is new to Digify, then yes, this person is required to set up a free account. The data room owner or co-owner will also need to invite the person as a guest to the data room so the person can access the file.

As data rooms are designed for sensitive and confidential files, only invited guests can view data room files. This allows data room owners to track all guest activities related to files in a data room, including printing, downloading and viewing of the files.

For example, if you've assigned the "Contributor" permission to the guest, this enables them to manage and interact with your data room files in a significant way. This includes adding new files, viewing, printing and downloading files or sub-folders within accessible folders. They will also be able to rename, replace, delete, reorder, move and copy files or sub-folders, as well as restore file versions.

As such, for security purposes, data room guests are required to set up a free account so that these activities can be traced back to specific guests for auditing purposes.

Someone sent me a file. How do I set up a free account to access it?

Step 1: If you're the recipient, you should receive an email notifying you of the file sent by the file owner. Click on the link in the email.

Otherwise, the file owner would have given you a file link, which starts with https://digify.com.

Step 2: You'll be directed to a web page starting with https://digify.com. You should see a page similar to the one below.

Enter your email address. It should be the same email address at which you received the link.

Step 3: If you do not have an existing account with Digify, a one-time, 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email address. Please enter this code to verify your identity and access the file.

Once done, click on the Verify button to verify your identity.

Unable to find the verification code email? Please check your Spam or Junk folders.

The email should look like this:

If you have an existing account with Digify, you'll be prompted to sign in to your account. Please enter your password.

If you can't remember your password, click on Forgot password? to reset it.

Step 4: Once you've successfully verified your identity, you'll be directed to access the file.

If you don't have an existing Digify account, you'll see a pop-up with the option to create an optional free account.

Enter your first name and last name, and set up a password for your free account. Once you're done, click on the Continue button to finish setting up the account.

Don't want to set up a free account? Click on Maybe later and/or check the box next to "Don't ask again".
