Note: PPAD is currently a beta feature.

When you allow recipients to download files, you may worry about losing control over them. Persistent Protection after Download (PPAD) ensures that even after a file is downloaded, you still maintain security over how it’s accessed.

Why Use PPAD?

Prevent unauthorized sharing – Only the intended recipient can open the file.
Maintain visibility – Track when and where the file is opened.
Revoke access anytime – Disable access even after the file is downloaded

You can also apply expiration dates, dynamic watermarks, and control permissions for each file.

How does PPAD work

PPAD applies to PDFs, Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentations. When a file is downloaded, it's converted into a .ppad format that can only be opened with the PPAD Viewer.

To decrypt and view protected files, recipients install a secure viewer that runs directly in their browser.

  • One-time setup – Once installed, future files will open instantly.

  • No extra software needed – Think of it like a lightweight app that runs in your browser.

The PPAD Viewer runs directly in your browser and there’s no risk of downloading malware or unknown programs. You’re simply extending your browser’s ability to open .ppad files securely.

Note: Without the PPAD Viewer, .ppad files cannot be opened after download.
