The file recipient experience

As a file owner, you may have wondered about your recipient's file viewing experience.

Your recipient’s viewing experience depends on the Access setting you selected when sending the file. In general, recipients will fall into one of the following categories:

1. Recipients who must verify their email or sign in first

These recipients must verify their email address (or sign in to Digify) before they can access the file.

This applies to:

  • Only people I specify (email verification)

  • Only people from email domains I specify

  • Anyone with the link or file (email verification)

Once the recipient verifies their email or signs in, they will be able to view your file according to the permissions you've set.

2. Recipients who can open the file instantly

These recipients do not need to sign in or verify their email before viewing your file.

This applies to:

  • Only people I specify (personal one-click links)

  • Anyone with the link (no email verification)


Learn how to preview the recipient experience for yourself

Use your browser's incognito or private viewing mode to preview the entire recipient experience.

Step 1: From your dashboard, click on Manage Sent Files in the left sidebar, and select the sent file you want to preview as a recipient.

Step 2: Click on the three dots (...) and select Get File Link. Copy the file link.

Step 3: Open a new incognito/private window in your browser and paste the file link to preview the file as a recipient. Please use a different email address that you have access to, to view the file.
