One-time file links are links that can only be accessed by your recipient before the file's self-destruct timer ends. After the timer ends, your recipient won't be able to access the file anymore.

How the self-destruct timer works

The self-destruct timer is a countdown timer. The moment your recipient accesses the file via the one-time link, the timer will start to count down.

When the timer lapses, your recipient will no longer be able to access the file via the link.

You can create one-time file links using self-destruct time for the following file formats:

  • PDF (.pdf)

  • MS Office documents (.doc, .ppt, .xls)

  • Images (.jpg, .png)

  • Videos (.mov, .mp4)

How to create one-time links with self-destruct

Step 1: From your dashboard, click on Send Files in the left sidebar.

Step 2: Upload the file that you want to send.

Step 3: Choose your download and print permissions.

Note: If you choose "Download (PDF)", "Download (Original)" or "Print", your recipient will be able to download the file before the self-destruct timer ends and the recipient will be able to access the file on their computer or as a hardcopy file even after the timer lapses.

Under Expiry, select Self-destruct after opening. Set the self-destruct timer.

Step 5: In Access, we recommend that you select Only people I specify or Only people from domains I specify for enhanced security.

If you select Anyone with the link (no email verification), and if you're sending the file to multiple recipients, once the file self-destructs for the first recipient who accesses the file, it will no longer be accessible by other recipients.

Step 6: Once done, you can click on the Send & notify recipients button to send the one-time file link to your recipients via email.

Otherwise, you can click on the Get link & skip notification button to copy the one-time file link to send directly to your recipients. They will not receive any email notifications via Digify.
